“Enough”
The words usually associated with Black fems and Thems are “powerful” “strong” and even “angry.” But we are also soft, we are nurturing and we are tired. We are enough even when tired.
So many of us are here and we will keep fighting and pushing for the changes we want to see in the world, but we need to be able to have time to be soft and vulnerable. To live in joy, to cry, to rest. To be able to say “I can’t carry this weight today” and let someone else take it from us for a moment.
This is a sampling of my series speaking to this. Snakes for me represent change. The hands are of those who have fought before me and those who continue to fight for us all now. The lace and flowers represent the softness and vulnerability we still carry through the fight.
